Back To Africa!!! Will you help!!

by admin on Mar.20, 2010, under Uncategorized

Dear Friend,

Bwana Safiwe… (Praise God); the Lord is sending me back to Africa! This will be my fourth international mission trip with Prisoners for Christ Outreach Ministries to the prisons and jails of foreign countries…. two trips to Africa in 2006 & 2008 and one trip to Hyderabad and New Delhi, India this last November 2009. I was blessed to be a member of each of those teams; however this trip will be a bit different as I will be leading the team. As you can imagine this brings with it many extra duties and preparation, thus the reason for this letter coming to you at this time. My hope is to raise the needed funds now so I can concentrate on all the needs of planning this mission and leading this team. As the time gets closer to leaving the preparation and training of the team gets more intense.
This coming trip to Africa will include the countries of Rwanda and the Congo DRC. Our plan is to spend 14 days holding services in the prisons and jails…with some new prisons on the itinerary…. and also training the local volunteers and pastors.
As you can imagine these are very poor countries. Many of the prisoners are in prison due to their part in the genocide that took place in Rwanda in 1994. They are the forgotten, the least of the least but the Lord has carved out a special place in my heart for these people and has once again put it on my heart to return for 14 days this October.
How I wish each of you could go with me so you could see and experience firsthand what the Lord is doing in the prisons and jails of these countries…maybe one of the trips in the future. I can tell you from experience you would forever be changed. Conditions in the prisons are so bad that prisoners have starved to death because of lack of food or have died of common diseases due to lack of medical attention. We typically bring hundred pound sacks of food and cases of soap to leave with them whenever possible. Most importantly we bring a message of hope, forgiveness and salvation by sharing the Word of the Lord (picture above and below) in prison services and offering these prisoners a hope that they have never had before. We will also be planting prison ministries in local churches, conducting leadership conferences, and everything else the Lord has planned. As you can see it will be a very full agenda.
Going on this mission trip is not something that I can do on my own. There are many miles to travel and it is very expensive. I need to raise $4,000 to fund this trip, so I am asking you, “Will you help me?” Will you partner with me in prayer and also consider financially supporting me on this trip and being a part of our mission team? I know with the economic conditions as they are it may be difficult but the time is short and the need is big, but so is our God! Though you may not be physically with us you will be in our hearts and an extremely important part of this team! I am asking you to please pray about it and if the Lord puts it on your heart to financially support me on this mission trip you can donate online by following clicking on the “Support” category above which will help connect you to Prisoners for Christ Outreach Ministries.  Your donations are tax deductable.
As always I am grateful, humbled and honored by your prayer support and your financial generosity! I sincerely hope that you will come along side me as I journey to the prisons of Africa. I can’t go without you!

Walking light with the Lord,
Don
